Hello, I'm Soheila

I am an academic coach and community educator who supports students and families navigating educational transitions and academic decision-making. With over 17 years of experience working within British Columbia’s education system, I help individuals gain clarity about their options and build confidence as they move toward meaningful academic and career goals.

In our work together, clients experience me as

Supportive · Practical · Insightful · Encouraging · Culturally aware

My coaching approach

My coaching approach is practical, collaborative, and future-focused. Rather than revisiting past struggles, I focus on helping students and families understand the education system, identify realistic options, and take clear next steps. Sessions are structured to provide guidance while empowering clients to make informed decisions with confidence over time.

Working with me, you would learn to:

  • Understand academic pathways and post-secondary options
  • Build practical study, time management, and planning strategies
  • Navigate the Canadian education system with clarity
  • Strengthen communication between families and schools
  • Develop confidence in making educational and career decisions

Training & professional development

  • 17+ years supporting newcomer and immigrant families within the Vancouver School Board
  • Extensive experience in settlement counselling and education system navigation
  • Training in cross-cultural communication and family advocacy
  • Professional development in language learning support and community education programs

How my work fits into whole-person care at HWP

At HWP, academic and life coaching complements counselling and holistic wellness services. When students or families are navigating stress, transitions, or major decisions, coaching can work alongside other supports to help them build clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of direction.

Availability

Tuesday & Thursday: 3 PM – 5 PM PT
Saturday: 8 AM – 11 AM PT

Fun facts

I find inspiration in the small moments, whether it's a reflective journal entry, a walk in nature, or a shared conversation over coffee. Outside of work, I volunteer for causes I believe in and enjoy connecting with people across cultures and generations. For me, coaching is not just a role, it is a way of being present, curious, and engaged with the world.
