As a Registered Social Worker with more than 17 years of experience in counselling, psychotherapy, social work, and community mental health, I support individuals navigating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Trauma can leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, disconnected, or unable to move beyond what happened. You may experience intrusive memories, anxiety, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, or a sense that your mind and body remain on alert even when the immediate danger has passed.
You may also be carrying painful experiences shaped by relationships, violence, discrimination, cultural displacement, workplace events, family history, or other circumstances that affected your sense of safety and identity.
I believe every person holds an inner capacity to heal and thrive, even during times when life feels heavy or uncertain. You do not have to move through this alone. My goal is to create an honest, respectful, and collaborative space where you can understand what you are experiencing, tend to deeper emotional wounds, and move toward greater stability and wholeness.
Compassionate · Attentive · Insightful · Collaborative
My work is grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Culturally Appropriate CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and DBT-informed strategies, integrating additional evidence-based practices when helpful.
Together, we may explore how your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and trauma responses influence one another. CBT can help identify and shift patterns that reinforce anxiety, avoidance, self-blame, or distress. Mindfulness-based approaches can support greater awareness of your internal experiences, while solution-focused work helps us identify your strengths and practical steps toward change.
I also recognize that trauma does not happen outside of culture, relationships, or social context. Your identity, family experiences, community, migration history, experiences of discrimination, or relationship to larger systems may all influence how trauma is experienced and understood.
Some concerns benefit from practical changes in thought and behaviour. Others require deeper exploration and time to heal. We will shape our work around what you need and move at a pace that respects your readiness.
Trauma can affect more than your thoughts or memories. It may influence your body, sleep, relationships, cultural identity, routines, work, emotional health, and overall sense of safety.
At HWP, counselling is part of a broader approach to wellbeing. I can collaborate with practitioners across counselling, coaching, and complementary wellness services to help you integrate emotional healing with practical support in daily life.
This whole-person model recognizes that healing continues beyond the counselling session. Additional care may help you rebuild routines, strengthen relationships, reconnect with your body, and carry the progress you make in therapy into the life you want to create.
Wednesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET
Additional weekday appointments based on availability.
I find cooking quite therapeutic and often choose recipes with ingredients that are especially enjoyable to work with.
What happened to you does not define the limits of who you can become. With compassionate support, you can understand your experiences, reconnect with your inner resources, and move toward greater safety, wholeness, and wellbeing.
