Hello, I'm Heather

As a Registered Social Worker at Health and Wellness Professionals, I support individuals navigating trauma, life transitions, and emotional challenges. My professional background in social work and medical anthropology shapes my approach to understanding the complex ways our experiences influence wellbeing.

In our work together, clients experience me as

Empathetic · Insightful · Collaborative · Supportive · Grounded

My therapeutic approach

I work from a trauma-informed lens and believe the relationship between counsellor and client is the foundation of meaningful therapy. My work integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), complex trauma frameworks, and solution-focused approaches to help clients build resilience and develop practical tools for managing stress and uncertainty.

Working with me, you would learn to:

  • Understand how past experiences influence present patterns
  • Build skills to manage stress and emotional challenges
  • Develop resilience in navigating life transitions
  • Integrate personal experiences into a stronger sense of self
  • Create meaningful change that supports long-term wellbeing

Training & professional development

  • PhD (ABD), MSW, BSW
  • Occupational Awareness Training for Therapists
  • Treating First Responder Trauma
  • Mindful Self-Compassion Core Skills
  • Healing After Trauma
  • Brief and Narrative Therapy
  • Certificate in Infant Mental Health

How my work fits into whole-person care at HWP

At HWP, care may involve collaboration between multiple practitioners. When helpful, I may recommend complementary services such as coaching or wellness supports so that progress continues beyond individual sessions.

Availability

Monday–Friday 2PM–7PM PST
Saturday 12PM–5PM PST.

Fun facts

I lived in Uganda for two years while completing my PhD research, and I brought home a bamboo bike frame. Cycling friends built it up and I now have an incredible and unique road bike that brings back fond memories of Uganda whenever I ride!
